Houle Toyota offers you the line-up of Scion vehicles!

Scion is the entry-level make from Toyota in the United-States, focusing on young people and their life style. Maybe you have seen one of those cube-shaped vehicles, small vehicles with strange lines and a design unseen before, bearing a logo similar to Toyota's.

The Scion make is a division of Toyota Motor Corp. Three models are available at Houle Toyota: xB, xD and tC.

Scion xB

Scion xB

The Scion xB model offers a unique cube-inspired style.

Scion's main objective is to build cars for the 18-34, and the xB model is undoubtedly the make's flagship product. Although the xB is built on a subcompact frame, it has the body of a tiny delivery truck, and its silhouette remains one of the most distinctive on the streets, even years after its release.

Interior

Surprisingly, the rectangular shape of the truck provides a lot of interior space for young and active individuals, enough to give a ride to 3 or 4 friends without them to complain on the backseat. Also, fully folding 60/40 split-fold rear seat allow the xB to be the number one cargo to transport big objects. Sleek interior lines, vivid colors and the Pioneer sound system give the xB an authentic and certainly enviable personality. Although the xB is not necessarily built for speed, its suspension and steering wheel are designed to provide superior road handling, leaving you with the impression that you get a lot more than what you have paid for when you purchased this compact miniature car.

A 1.5 L. in-line 4-cylinder engine pushes de xB. In 2004 and 2005, it was evaluated at 108 hp and 105 pound-feet. However, the 2006 new SEA certification procedures revisited it to 103 hp and 101 pound-feet. The xB engine and acceleration remains unchanged. The xB audio system has a complete new design with auxiliary MP3 connector, as well as an optional iPod charger and connector integrated in the audio console. Other interesting accessories include a subwoofer speaker, satellite radio, sport foot pedals and gearshift lever, a dead pedal and cup holders in various colors. A Release Series 3.0 limited edition offers a feature package including a rear audio system with a front headrest-mounted 7 inches LCD.

Scion xB 2008

Scion xB

While the original xB was a rebadged version of a Japanese-market Toyota, the second-generation model was designed with the American market in mind. The new xB is exactly 1 foot longer than the last box, 3 inches wider and actually 2 inches shorter in height. This creates a more substantial, less toylike appearance, and a more useful overall vehicle. A more powerful four-cylinder engine means that its acceleration is also less toylike and borderline quick.

Although it maintains the previous generation's boxy profile, it is a much different vehicle, with more thrust. A 2.4-liter inline-4 shared with the Scion tC and Toyota Camry boosts output to 158 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque..

Standard equipment was better than average for a low-priced economy car, as every xB came with antilock brakes, stability and traction control, air-conditioning, an MP3-compatible CD player and power windows, mirrors and locks. Fifteen-inch steel wheels with plastic wheel covers were also standard, but you could get alloy wheels as a low-cost accessory

Scion xD

Scion xD

Just as the boxy xB captured a certain type of buyers' hearts when it first debuted, Scion hopes that the xD's interesting visage will collect its own cult following. All-new for 2008, the xD has been designed with American customers in mind. In both price and lineup positioning, it replaces the xA hatchback.

Heavier and more substantial-feeling than the xA, the new xD shares its basic underpinnings with the latest Toyota Yaris Hatchback, but the 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 128 hp, comes from the Corolla.

The 2008 Scion xD comes loaded with an impressive array of standard safety features including antilock brakes with brake assist, stability control, traction control, front seat side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags and front active head restraints.

The new xD sports a functional, well-built and certainly hip interior design. Unlike the new xB and the outgoing xA, the gauges are where they belong -- in front of the driver instead of in the dash center.

Scion tC

Scion tC

The Scion tC model, the most stylish look with the lines of a sporty coupe.

The Scion tC is surprising

The 2008 Scion tC has a 2.4-L VVT-i engine that produces 160 hp at 5,700 rpm for a 163 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm. This is the same engine than the four-cylinder in the Toyota Camry. The standard transmission is a five-speed manual, and there's an optional four-speed automatic. There is an interesting list of standard equipment on the tC, including the Pioneer sound system, intended for young drivers. There is also much interest in the tC with the long list of optional features to customize the car almost endlessly. And most importantly, it won't cost you that much money to enhance the exterior and interior of your car with the large choice of parts and accessories.

The Scion tC exterior styling is interesting, young and sporty. At first glance, the attention to detail on many of the car components produces a nice effect. The front headlights are sleek and modern, similar to the BMW 5-Series. The tC has something of the Mazda 3 and may also reminds you of the Acura RSX. Still it has its own distinctive and very attractive personality. Although we are used to seeing classic lines on most Toyota small cars, this is not the case with this brand. You just have to look at the rims on the car sides; the type you will see on celebrated sports cars.

The interior is also quite impressing. This is a very well-assembled cabin with many innovative components that will please the younger customers. The dashboard gauges and instruments are accessible and easy to read, whereas the A/C and audio system commands, which you can hide behind a slide panel bearing the Scion logo, can be found on the center console. The seats are supportive and are covered with a nice quality sporty fabric. Several driver's seat adjustments will provide a better driving position for anyone behind the wheel. The back seats offer a lot of space and legroom. Only the down-angle shape of the roof at the back may limit the space for taller people. Yet, this Scion's interior is a definite success.

On the Road

As soon as you step in the tC, you feel like you are driving a real sport coupe. The driving position and the grip you have on the steering wheel all contribute to making the driving experience more exciting. Its 160 hp engine offers performances that are more than satisfying, and its torque provides immediate response, even at lower rpm. Suspension is well-balanced between handling and comfort, and it will meet the expectations of the young generation. Yet, the tC has everything needed to please the young and old.
